Helping Children
Transition From Primary
to Secondary School

I  am because we are

Real families.
Real change.
Real belonging.

"The philosophy 'I am because we are.

We are because I am' is not just spoken—it is felt"

Roda Hussein - Parent and Volunteer

These are not case studies. These are parents - just like you

who found a community that held them when they needed

most, and watched their children discover the genius they

always carried.

Why a Shared Curriculum Works

Through these practices, children and adults develop the exact same language and tools for emotional regulation, communication, and resilience. Parents have the opportunity to model positive behaviours, healthy relationships, and self-regulation, while children experience these skills being practised in real time. This shared approach strengthens family relationships, builds deep trust, and creates seamless consistency between home and our programmes.

How We Deliver It

We bring this curriculum to life across three distinct, flexible ways:

The Saturday Sessions

Our three-year, flagship whole-family learning experience. Families come together on the weekend to connect, practise their skills, and build community with other families in a relaxed, supportive environment.

The After-School Sessions

Designed to bridge the gap between the school day and home. These sessions provide a safe, nurturing space for children to decompress, regulate, and reinforce both their academic foundations and wellbeing tools during the week.

The Summer Sessions

An immersive, enriching experience during the school holidays. Extended workshops, outdoor movement, and creative projects give families the time and space to dive deeper into learning, connection, and joy.

Wrap-Around Support

To ensure these tools stick for the long run, all of our sessions are backed by online child and parent wellbeing support, family wellbeing retreats, and specialised online and face-to-face workshops for parents and educators. We are helping to create a culture of self-care in education where wellbeing is recognised as the absolute foundation for learning, belonging, and thriving.

A Creative & Caring Path

Awaken Genius uses creative, community-focused approaches to support children, especially those who may need extra help, as they move to secondary school.

By encouraging positive relationships and a supportive learning environment, we help children adjust with confidence and ease.

At Awaken Genius we believe in "holding hands."
What are the parents saying in the words of the families who have experienced it.

A Life-Changing Journey of Healing
and Belonging

Awaken Genius has been life-changing for both me and my son. After years of trauma, including parental alienation and honour-based violence, we found a place where we were welcomed with warmth, dignity, and care. The facilitators have helped my son slowly rebuild trust and confidence, while the monthly somatic therapy sessions have supported my own healing from complex PTSD and social anxiety. Awaken Genius has given us a genuine sense of belonging, a chosen family, and hope for the future. The impact has been immeasurable, and I am now proud to volunteer for the organisation.

Finding Relief for Post-Concussion
Syndrome Through Somatic Techniques

Following a head injury, my daughter developed post-concussion syndrome and was unable to rest. After an Awaken Genius session, I was introduced to somatic techniques like gentle tapping and calming head massage. Incorporating these into our nightly routine helped her relax deeply and fall asleep.

Integration of PYE
Global's Creative Empowerment Model:

Awaken Genius draws inspiration from the Creative Empowerment Model developed by Partners for Youth Empowerment (PYE). This model combines experiential learning, group facilitation, and arts-based practices to foster creativity, emotional intelligence, and community engagement among young people. By integrating these elements, the model supports children's holistic development, enhancing their academic performance, emotional well-being, and ability to form healthy relationships. Through creative expression and collaborative learning environments, children are empowered to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

From Overwhelm to Empowerment

Self-regulation once felt abstract, but now it feels tangible and empowering. Learning about the nervous system and vagus nerve helped me understand my body in a new way. Tools such as tapping have become anchors in moments of overwhelm. The sessions feel like free therapy at a time I deeply needed support. Having a safe, dedicated space to talk, process, and feel seen is invaluable. The warmth, honesty, and encouragement within the community make being part of Awaken Genius feel like planting seeds in good soil and finally having the tools to thrive.

Transforming Lives Through Specialist Family Support

"I have witnessed the unwavering dedication and professionalism of their staff in delivering a therapeutic approach that supports families through serious difficulties and traumatic experiences. Parents have shared that the compassionate, specialist support they received was something they could not find within mainstream schools or health services, helping both their children and themselves navigate the ongoing challenges of everyday life."

Family Wellbeing Day Retreat

Our Family Wellbeing Day Retreats are held throughout the year, where we incorporate somatic therapy (mind-body connection) and the creative arts to help parents self-regulate, connect deeply with their children, and build stronger bonds with other families. These days focus on fostering emotional wellbeing, promoting healthy family dynamics, and enhancing community ties.

After I came to this event, I felt more empowered and confident since I have low confidence and self-esteem and I'm a domestic violence survivor, so this was really needed after hearing so many stories from people of all ages.

Jami Patel

I've been really empowered and embraced and also what I'm realising is the connectivity between members of the community.

"The exercises that I've learnt is something

I would differently share with other people ... When you reach one I don't know how many people can be reached by it"

Earle Mitchell

Our Online Parental Wellbeing Circles also integrate somatic therapy, offering parents the opportunity to self-regulate and develop the skills to effectively co-regulate with their children and others within their community. These sessions provide practical tools for parents to manage their well-being and nurture positive relationships at home and with others.
